The History
The Beginning
The Winnetka Yacht Club (WYC) was founded many years ago as a sailing club based out of the beaches of Winnetka, IL. There were many members and weekly sailboat races and regattas. Over the years, members came and went and for the past few years, the WYC struggled to find its way and drifted somewhat. Now with a fresh wind in its sails and including Paddle Boards / SUP's, Kayaks and even Motor boats, the WYC is looking to grow and develop into a club and place for all who enjoy the waters of Lake Michigan off the Winnetka shoreline.
Members
Membership to the the Winnetka Yacht Club is open to anyone who enjoys spending time on the water. Having a Sail Boat, Paddleboard (SUP), Kayak, Canoe, or motorized boat is welcome to join. At the present time, we are not charging dues or any membership fee, however as we grow, this will probably change to cover costs of the Club.
Recreation
There's more to a "Yacht Club" than sailing. We envision the WYC as a gathering place for those who love to spend time on the water. "A social club for those who like to get their feet wet" All encompassing. All water sports. Let's utilize the great beaches of Winnetka and grow this Club into something fun.
